Marriage Therapy

with a Certified Gottman Therapist

Let’s be honest, marriage is super hard and we all have problems. There is no such thing as a perfect marriage and no, you likely won’t be better off with someone else. Couples come to see me with a wide variety of issues - communication, sex, expectations, unmet needs, conflict avoidance, talking in circles, feeling like they’re “roommates,” or just feeling like they are with the wrong person. So if you’re feeling any of these things, you are in good company and the good news is, these are things you can absolutely change if you are willing to put in the time and effort into the process of therapy.

Working with couples is my passion and specialty. As a Certified Gottman Therapist, I have completed rigorous training in the Gottman Method and believe marriages can be turned around from the darkest and dullest of places into a relationship that is thriving and fulfilling for both people. The Gottman Method is incredible in many ways and helps couples process through gridlocked and deep-seated issues while providing you with practical tools that will help break the negative cycles in your relationship.

While I provide practical tools in therapy to help with building friendship, managing conflict, sustaining trust and commitment, and creating shared meaning as a couple, I also take a trauma-informed approach. I deeply believe that our trauma, brokenness, and past wounds significantly impact our marriages and many times, become an unwanted visitor that shifts our dynamic in negative ways. I offer EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) to help couples find freedom from the past so it doesn’t invade the marital relationship further. I will also teach you communication tools to talk about things from the past as they arise to deepen your connection and intimacy with your spouse.

I work with couples in all stages of life, whether you’ve been married for 5 months, 5 years, or 35 years. I know that relationships change over time and need some maintenance to reset and reconnect. Having an outside perspective can help to identify the root of the problem while offering feedback for how to do things differently. Marriage therapy provides the hope of rebuilding and strengthening relationships and equipping partners to choose each other every day.

Marriage/couples appointments are available as 50-minute or 90-minute sessions. I do a thorough assessment process to make sure we are covering all necessary areas. Couples will complete a variety of questionnaires through the Gottman Connect portal, this fee is included in the initial intake and assessment session. Couples will receive a full report to refer back to once we go through it together.
