Telehealth

Telehealth is similar to traditional in-person therapy but is offered through other formats such as phone or video conferencing. Many studies show that telehealth including teletherapy are effective for clients and teletherapy can treat similar issues to those seen in traditional therapy. The process of teletherapy is similar to that of in-person therapy in that new clients will be asked for intake information and have a few sessions where the client and therapist grow to know one another while developing treatment goals.

The one major difference between this type of therapy and in-person is the extra level of confidentiality. Therapists will typically ask their clients to ensure they are logged into a private network and provide clients with a private link and sometimes a password which are asked to be kept confidential. Therapists will also ask clients to make sure they are in a private space at home where others cannot hear the conversation. Ultimately, the level of privacy is up to the individual but therapists will usually ask clients to reschedule their appointment if there is a lot of noise in the background or if the client is not in a private setting. While there are a few more considerations in terms of confidentiality, teletherapy can be an ideal option for many reasons and can offer great outcomes and flexibility to clients.

Thanks to the pandemic, telehealth has come a LONG way and we are now able to do more intensive types of therapy virtually. So whether you’re out of town, out of the area, or just need a day at home, telehealth appointments are a great option and offer lots of flexibility.

Moments of Grace Family Therapy offers sessions by either video or phone. Videos will take place through a secure HIPPA-compliant platform. Both phone and video calls are confidential.
